The Fetal Wellbeing Scan is designed for expectant parents who want reassurance on their baby’s development. This scan provides an assessment of various key aspects of fetal health, including confirmation of single or multiple pregnancies, observation of the baby’s heartbeat, and examination of the brain, abdominal contents, and placenta position. While it’s not as comprehensive as the NHS 20-week scan, it offers a diagnostic report summarizing these initial findings. Parents who wish to monitor the early health of their baby in more detail or gain peace of mind between regular NHS scans may find this scan particularly beneficial.
We will confirm whether there is one or more babies.
The Sonographer will look at the four chambers of the heart as well as listen to the heartbeat.
The Sonographer will look at the position of baby as well as the placenta.
Our Sonographer will observe baby’s brain and abdominal contents.
Some anomalies can be seen during this scan. This is not as extensive as your 20 week NHS anomaly scan and cannot detect a number of anomalies that your NHS scan can.
You will receive a detailed Well-being Report of the limited observations your sonographer has seen in digital format which you will be able to access completely confidentially via our MyScan App.
With over 30,000 glowing 5-star reviews on Trustpilot, Window to The Womb is trusted by thousands of families for our exceptional pregnancy scan services.
Our Well-being Scan doesn’t include a rescan because the aim of this scan is to provide limited diagnostic results captured in a fetal well-being report. If your sonographer identifies anything out of the normal this will be explained to you along with guidance and support in obtaining ongoing care through an NHS pathway.
Our Well-being scan does not include any prints however you can purchase these on the day of your appointment if you wish.
If your sonographer should identify something of concern the team will arrange an appointment at your local NHS trust for ongoing care. You will be provided with full details of our findings to take with you to your next appointment.
You MUST be attending NHS antenatal care and undergoing ultrasound screening with the NHS. We ask our mums to arrive with a reasonably full bladder and ensure you’re hydrated. This allows plenty of fluid around baby, helping with the overall quality of the well-being scan. We recommend 1-2 glasses of water an hour before. Please bring your hospital notes from previous appointments in case our Sonographer needs to refer to them.
Our nationwide baby scan clinics are regulated & inspected by the Care Quality Commission, and strive to offer you an outstanding and professional service; with all scans conducted by fully registered and qualified medical professionals. Our goal is to ensure your family feel safe during your experience and we will always put the well-being of mum and baby first. Our clinic teams undergo extensive training and will be on-hand to answer any of your family’s pregnancy questions.
We only work with specialist Sonographers, using the latest in private ultrasound technology. If you require any follow-up appointments after your scan, our clinics have NHS pathways to ensure you have on-going care if needed.
