Dating Scan

Available From 8 to 12 Weeks

Who Is This Scan For?

An early pregnancy dating scan is often booked to determine the exact gestational age of the pregnancy, especially if there is uncertainty about the dates of the last menstrual period (LMP) or irregular menstrual cycles. This scan provides a precise estimate of the due date by measuring the crown-rump length (CRL) of the embryo. For individuals with a history of irregular cycles, conception via assisted reproductive technologies, or early symptoms of complications, a dating scan offers clarity and reassurance, aiding in tailored prenatal care planning.

Yes this won’t be a problem. You can bring up to 1 additional adult guest to your scan. Some clinics are excepting 2 adult guests, but please check this with your local clinic before your scan.

If you are pre 10 week a trans-vaginal scan is medically recommended to provide more accurate diagnostic results. If your scan will be completed trans-vaginally then a full bladder is not required. If you would prefer to have an abdominal scan please arrive with a full bladder for your appointment. here.

If you haven’t had a midwife appointment you can still visit us for a scan. If you have seen your midwife/GP and have been provided with any notes please bring these with you to your appointment.
