16 Things to Do When You’re Waiting for Baby

Waiting for Baby to Arrive

Waiting for your little one to arrive? The last few weeks of pregnancy can feel like forever. Pass the time with some practical pre-baby prep – and make the most of your final weeks of being pregnant.

If You Just Can’t Sit Still…

  • Stock up on bananas, drinks and Netflix box sets for when junior has a growth spurt and you are on the sofa for a week feeling around the clock. Happens around 6 weeks.
  • Borrow someone else’s child and learn how to burp them now. It’s a fine art.
  • Batch cook so there are lots of easy meals available in the freezer.
  • Do a mini photoshoot at home. Get plenty of those pregnancy pics in to remember this special time.
Waiting for baby to arrive
  • Nesting is real! Have a deep clean of the house and prepare for baby’s arrival.
  • Make a huge batch of chocolate cookies and freeze them. Don’t tell anyone they’re there – they’re all for you.
  • Make sure everyone fully understands your expectations about visitors. If you don’t want them at first, explain this to them.
  • Get loads of the fancy ready meals from M&S and pop them in the freezer. You will grow tired of pizza very quickly!
  • Practice saying, “the kitchen’s through there, mine’s milk, 2 sugars” for when guest come over.
  • Take unwanted clothes/items to a charity shop; it’s amazing how cluttered the house gets once your baby arrives.

Make Sure You Have ‘Me-Time’

Pregnancy pamper
  • Swimming! It eases the back pain. Follow with a pamper session.
  • Enjoy carrying a small bag with just your purse, phone and keys with you. Next time it will be an oversized nappy bag.
  • Order a LOT of ice cream online, and sit in bed watching box sets, eating it!
  • If you have old friends you haven’t spoken to in a while, make those long phone calls catching up with them now.
  • Go out for dinner!
  • Have a lie in. Take advantage of these last days of sleep.
  • Sit back, relax, go out for lunch and chill as much as possible. Life’s about to change forever.
